This International Women’s Day, we reflect on some of the work we’re really proud, paving the way towards gender equality in the tourism industry.
Doubling the number of female tour leaders
With diversity and inclusion at the forefront of everything we do, in March 2017 we set a goal to double the number of female tour leaders globally by 2020 – a target that we achieved six months ahead of schedule.
When this target was first set, we had 153 tour leaders around the world. By June 2019, we had more than 300 female tour leaders, and today we are proud to say that nearly 30% of our tour leaders worldwide are now female.
Leader in women only expeditions
PEAK DMC are leading the way in delivering women only expeditions. We offer immersive experiences, created by our local experts on the ground, allowing travellers opportunities to engage and interact with amazing women from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Guided by some of our incredible female tour leaders, these trips are breaking down the barriers of traditional tourism, offering a more profound understanding of female culture in each destination.
Founding sponsor of inaugural International Women in Travel and Tourism Forum
In January 2020, PEAK DMC were a founding sponsor for the International Women in Travel and Tourism Forum (IWTTF). The inaugural event was an innovative and collaborative forum, focused on enhancing the full contribution of women to the workplace and jointly address current limitations.
PEAK DMC were proud to be a founding sponsor of the forum and we look forward to supporting the event again in 2021. You can read more about the Forum, here.
